My husband and I have rare moments of just us being together, and driving to Miami from the outskirts of Orlando is already a getaway for us.
If you know me, I am an avid fan of museums and arts, probably I got my enthusiasm when I went to a planetarium way back on a field trip when I was in grade school. From there, I am into these things ever since.
Located in Miami, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, formerly known as Villa Vizcaya, is the former villa and property of businessman James Deering of the Deering McCormick-International Harvester business empire, located on Biscayne Bay in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood. The early twentieth-century Vizcaya estate also involves comprehensive Italian Renaissance gardens, native forested landscape, and a historic village outbuildings compound.
The landscape and architecture were inspired by Veneto and Tuscan Italian Renaissance models and were created in the Mediterranean Revival architecture style with Baroque elements. The architect was F. Burrall Hoffman, the design director was Paul Chalfin, and the landscape architect was Diego Suarez.
The Vizcaya property is now owned by Miami-Dade County as the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, which is open to the public.
The Museum is located at 3251 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33129.
I have taken a few shots of the ones I truly loved the most in this museum and gardens, we are sure not able to roam around this beauty because as we were walking into he gardens, it rained so hard. So let's take a look at the few artworks I enjoyed looking and learning about it's history:
Right when you entered the entrance at South Miami Ave (first picture above), you will enter this long drive thru, I was a little skeptical but hey it is a museum AND gardens, so yep, I kept an open and intriguing mind to see what's in this famous place.
The reception area:
As we entered inside the mansion, I noticed these carpets and huge artwork, it really resembles Italy, and take a look at the artwork from floor to ceiling too!
The Vizcaya Museum also has Gilded Age technology on display. There are vintage doorbells, a dumbwaiter, and a rotary phone. The telephone system in Vizcaya was the first in Miami-Dade County.
James Deering's Office that's connected to his bedroom, check out the celling!
his bedroom:
and bathroom, oh boy! Look at how fancy it is!
and on the right-hand side, he has a bathtub made of marble (I think):
the Kitchen looks decent, and check out those beautiful glassware, if I remember they are porcelain:
within the interiors, you will see beautiful art, such as this dragon:
His home has a touch of every country he has been, he even have a China-themed room (I lost the photo)!
This hallway reminds me of the Encanto Movie!
The museum has so many beautiful gardens, and this is one of my favorites:
(photos are a little dark since the rain was about to start)
The private pool:
The mansion itself, there was a wedding going on that's why there's canopies:
the waterfront view and gazebo perfect for Instagram photos:
